About Us & our vision

To take care of our environment & culture

Eco-tourism
If you don’t like the trodden paths, but love small-scale tourism and have interest for the local culture and nature – then Kasbah Berbčre Ouriz is your right partner. Abdellah chose to change his well-paid job in town (he has a Masters in Mathematics) for life in the countryside. His mission is to increase people’s sources of income in the rural area and to protect the cultural heritage and the natural environment. Young people thus get a perspective to earn a living as an alternative to migrating to the cities. Abdellah engages his village neighbours in work at Kasbah Berbčre Ouriz. He also engages with local authorities and even Ministers to discuss what is needed to pull off eco-tourism in more localities.
Much of the food that we use/cook in Kasbah Berbčre Ouriz comes from our own fields and is grown through ecological perma-culture. We take care of a rich soil life and don’t use pesticides, insecticides or artificial fertilizer. With the perma-culture technique, our crops use less pumped water. We will be happy to tell you about this during excursions in the green palm oasis.
We also try to manage Kasbah Berbčre Ouriz as sustainably as possible. We re-use vegetable and fruit waste in the garden. We have a garden in the oasis, as well as with the house and with the farm behind the Kasbah. The eggs and meat that we offer you are from our own chickens and animals. The orange juice is freshly pressed, and the bread, spreads and warm meals are freshly prepared in our kitchen. The mint for the tea comes right from the garden. While people in Morocco love to take their tea very sweet, we also offer tea without sugar. And if you have a diet or eat vegetarian or vegan let us know! We are happily accommodating your wishes.

Reducing the use of water and energy
If you stay multiple nights, to limit our environmental footprint (especially the use of water and electricity) the bedding and towels are not automatically changed every day. You can indicate your preferred interval for changing. The washing machine and showers get warm water from the solar boiler.
